Safety first! This was the first thought that came to mind when Aliana started to be mobile. Like many parents concerns, my husband and I were scared she was going to injured herself with everything we have around the house. After testing out a lot of different products through trial and error, the products below worked best with our living situation and lifestyle. One concern of ours was how to install the childproofing gadgets and gizmos without having them stand out all over our home. I will explain some reasons why these products will help you secure your home.
One of my favorites is the Eco Baby cabinets locks. These locks are installed inside the cabinet without drilling any holes or ruining your cabinet doors. It has a tab that pops up to prevent a cabinet from swinging open you open it with a magnetic key just outside the lock.
Prevent your child from drowning or throwing items into the toilet that will clog. Kids see toilets as a pool of water for playtime. Install toilet seat locks in each restroom to prevent them from getting into the dirty toilets.
Aliana likes to turn any knob she can reach. This means she has the urge to turn the stove knobs and door knobs. She is so curious and thinks these knobs are toys. We bought the stove knob covers. Make sure to check the measurements of the covers before buying them because they didn’t fit on our old Viking stove knobs, but fits on the new stove.
In our new home, we have a pool. So we have to take our own precautions to reduce the chances of her accessing the pool without us there. One product we got is the sliding door locks. We also installed the pool fence surrounding the perimeter of the pool.
Another one of my favorites is the door pinch guards. Aliana is curious how a door opens and closes and she will swing the doors shut. Now I don’t have to worry about her pinching her fingers in case it gets caught. These door guards are great.
More items that I have are below. I highly recommend each one listed. Take the time to take the extra precautions to childproof your home. Afterwards, you will have more peace of mind!
