PACKING FOR A WEEKEND + ROAD TRIP

We are going to take Aliana on her first road trip. Our destination will be Big Bear, California. Going on road trips is different from flying. When you fly, less is more. When Aliana is in the car for an extended period, she is going to need more entertainment because she will not have the option to move around like on the plane. I try to avoid throwing the tablet at her at first. Even though her movies and shows will keep her entertained for a while, I like to give her some screen-free activities to start. Here are some toys and activities I decided to bring for Aliana during the car ride. Since this will be around three to four hours in the car depending on Los Angeles traffic, these products should be enough to entertain her during our road trip.

CAR RIDE ESSENTIALS

Interactive books

Fire HD tablet

Download favorite songs on my phone to play in the car

Interactive bear toy

Water doodle pad

Dr. Suess book

Yada car monitor

Snacks are essential to bring with us. Aliana snacks all the time, so we need to be ready for her hunger cravings. I am also going to take with us her water and milk. There is a new thermos sippy cup I am trying with Aliana which keeps the milk cold for a long time. We are going to see if we can start weaning her off the bottle. These snacks are enough for the road and the whole weekend.

SNACKS

Happy tots puffs

Happy tots super food

Happy tots teethers crackers

Happy tots fiber protein bars

Happy tots veggie straws

Earths Best Snack bars

Thermos sippy cup

Munchkin sippy cup

Munchkin snack container

There is always so much to do to prepare for a trip. To avoid stressing out and rushing to get everything ready, I like to pack everything the night before. The night before I will lay out all of our clothes, so it is easy for us to throw on the next day. For this weekend trip, this is all I am bringing for Aliana.

CLOTHES

2 shirts

2 pants

1 short

1 cardigan

2 pairs of socks

3 night-time onsies

1 hat

1 pair of shoes

2 muslin blankets

Since we sleep trained Aliana a month ago, we need to keep up with the routine. So we decided to bring the portable crib pack n play, white noise machine, and books. Aliana will be sleeping in a separate room from us, so we are going to bring the baby monitor. Below is a list of products we are bringing for her to sleep comfortably in a new place. Also, are other items we always take with us when we travel.

ESSENTIALS

1 pack of diapers

3 bath toys

Travel bottle rack and brush

3 books

Pack n Play

Samsung baby monitor

Lofa

Nail filer

We plan to travel late afternoon. When we arrive at the cabin the time will be close to Aliana’s bedtime. Usually, I plan ahead and play out the situation. So before we leave, I am going to bath Aliana and change her into her bedtime clothes. If she is sleeping during our arrival, then it should be easier for us to take her out of the car seat and put her straight to bed. She will also be more comfortable in her night clothes during the tip.

Did I get everything covered? Let me know if you suggest any other items I should bring for a weekend trip. I hope this helped you plan for your next weekend road trip.
